Calcasieu Update

Reference Navigation Bulletin No. 23-132, dated 30 October 2023, stating that the U.S. Government Contract Cutterhead Dredge LORRAINE will be working in the Calcasieu River Channel between Mile 22 and Mile 23, between Mile 5 and Mile 17, and at the intersection of the Intracoastal Waterway (including the flare at Devil’s Elbow to the end of the Turning Basin) through approximately 1 February 2024.

MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE U.S. GOVERNMENT CONTRACT CUTTERHEAD DREDGE LORRAINE WILL BE WORKING IN THE CALCASIEU RIVER CHANNEL BETWEEN APPROXIMATE MILE 6 AND MILE 17 UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 31 MAY 2024. 

The Dredge will work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will give way to passing navigation.  The Dredge can be contacted on either VHF channel 13 or 16 for sailing instructions.

Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
