Atchafalaya Bar Channel Update

Reference Navigation Bulletin No. 23-134, dated 30 October 2023, stating that the U.S. Government Contract Cutterhead Dredge CAROLINA will be working between Mile 150 and Mile 168 of the Atchafalaya River Bar Channel until approximately 30 January 2024.
MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE DREDGING OPERATIONS HAVE BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 22 FEBRUARY 2024, AND THE DREDGE WILL BE WORKING BETWEEN MILE 164.0 AND MILE 167.0 OF THE ATCHAFALAYA RIVER BAR CHANNEL.
The Dredge will work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will be monitoring VHF marine radio channels 13 and 16. The dredged material will be deposited through floating pipelines and marked submerged pipelines into Bird Islands located on the west side of the channel.
Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
