IWW Lock Status Update ICE Conditions 26 Jan 2024 Update

Things keep changing rapidly so I’ll set the slide on the backburner and give a quick run down.

Dresden Island – 41’ of gate opening. 70’ width restriction. Boots on the ground are saying I-55 bridge and Cottage Road Railroad Bridge are holding a significant amount of ice above them with open water forming below. Lower guidewall is out of operation resulting in restrictions.

Marseilles – 36’ of gate opening. 105’ width restriction. Canal is 100 percent packed with ice. Lower guidewall is out of operation resulting in restrictions.

Starved Rock – 54’ of gate opening. 105’ width restriction. Initial surge of ice and water has appeared to settle down now. Anticipating more to come. Approximately 4’ of lower guide wall left.
