Ports of Indiana is a state-wide port structure with multiple locations.
Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon, located near the median center of the U.S. population and only 153 miles from the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, serves: agriculture, coal and manufacturing industries. Home to 13 businesses, the port has more than 600 acres of greenfield industrial sites available for development. The Port offers connection to North America’s rail network through Evansville Western Railway to five Class I railroads and convenient access to I-64 and I-69.
Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon handles more cargo than any other port in the state. One of the largest inland ports in the country by size and by shipping volume, it is well-positioned for future growth. In addition to being a top tonnage port for barge and rail shipments on the Ohio River, Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon provides specialized cargo handling services and expansive storage facilities. We support one of the richest grain and fertilizer markets in the world, as well as the energy sector’s extensive coal reserves. The port companies provide processing, warehousing, distribution, bulk handling and grain storage.
More than 600 acres are available for development out of nearly 1,240 acres of land at Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon. The largest available parcel is a contiguous 544-acre site, which is one of the largest parcels available in our three port system.
Ports of Indiana-Jeffersonville provides competitive advantages to businesses that move cargo by water, rail and highway. Of the Port’s total 1,057 acres, 340 are available for development. Rail service is provided by CSX and Louisville & Indiana Rail Road. The Port is accessed by direct interstate connection to four major highways. Home to 27 companies including 15 steel-related businesses, the port’s maritime industrial park offers warehousing, distribution and manufacturing facilities, a variety of steel services including processing, roll forming and galvanizing, as well as unparalleled multimodal connections.
Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor provides competitive advantages to businesses that move cargo by water, rail and highway. It handles international ships via the St. Lawrence Seaway connecting the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. Home to 30 businesses, The Port encompasses 600 acres, more than 75 are available for development. The Port offers easy connections to all major Class I railroads as well as eight highways including four primary north-south and east-west interstates that help connect Northwest Indiana to the rest of the nation.
