Martinus North America Acquires Bottom Line Company
Martinus North America, Inc. on Aug. 28 reported entering into a purchase agreement to acquire Lee’s Summit, Mo.-based Bottom Line Company LLC. This is the first North American acquisition for Martinus, which operates in Australia, New Zealand and South America and employs more than 1,500 people worldwide.
Bottom Line Company, founded in 2005, is a nationwide railroad contractor with 200 employees. It specializes in track construction, bridge construction and maintenance, track safety, and emergency derailment services. The company will now operate as Martinus Bottom Line and serve the Class I, short line and Industrial markets.
“Martinus North America will provide the platform to grow into major projects in transit, high-speed and material supply in North America, which is a strategic approach that has driven Martinus’ growth in Australia, New Zealand and South America,” according to Martinus, a privately owned, full-service railroad infrastructure construction company that is said to build and maintain large-scale railways and intermodals across Australia, New Zealand, North America and Chile, and to have the in-house capability for full turnkey project development, from feasibility and operational transformation and engineering management to project management, construction management, and integration.
“We’re excited about this new chapter in North America,” said Treaven Martinus, CEO of Martinus, which he established in 2005.
“The diverse service offerings that the Martinus Bottom Line business unit provides will not only help grow our revenue in the North American market, but also provide a platform to expand to major projects and other railway product supply,” Martinus North America President Brett Urquhart said. “We are excited about what we can achieve, and we look forward to continuing our expansion in North America.”
Fresno, Calif.-based Engelke Consulting, LLC on Aug. 28 formally announced the addition of federal lobbying and government affairs to its services, which include freight railroad industry analysis, start-ups, compliance, and general freight rail consulting.
According to the consultancy, its employees have an average of 35 years of experience developing and managing all aspects of freight railroads including starting new railroads, railcar/locomotive/track asset management and maintenance, safety program development and administration, marketing management, new business development, financial management, and general operations.
“Interfacing with high-level government officials is something our team has always done, but by formally offering these services as registered federal lobbyists, our team is well-positioned to represent freight rail clients,” said Alex Engelke, Principal Owner of Engelke Consulting, LLC.
